On Friday, February 19th, the YWCA of Greater Portland hosted a gun violence discussion with Oregon leaders and former Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords for a roundtable discussion on the need for more laws to protect communities from gun violence.
This event was also the launch of the Oregon Coalition for Common Sense, a new group working for tougher gun control laws. The new alliance will advocate for gun control measures such as tighter gun storage requirements and better processes for families and law enforcement to stop people who suffering from a mental health crisis from accessing guns.
