Whether it’s visions of sugarplums, peace on earth, a coveted gift or time spent with loved ones, the holidays are a time of renewal, hope, and promise. Or so we imagine.

At the YWCA we help people, young and old, to dream. Recovering from hopelessness and isolation resulting from violence, age, abuse or oppression, thousands of people turn to us for a gentle hand up or soft shoulder to lean on.

The Holiday Hope Drive is an opportunity for you to support people experiencing poverty in the Portland metro area by providing a blanket for a baby, warm coat for a child, food for a senior or other necessities. With your support, we can help rekindle a spirit of imagination for those most in need.

Holiday Gift Drive Last Year:

  • 26 Domestic Violence Services families adopted
  • 11 Family Preservation Project families adopted
  • 22 Seniors adopted

Get Involved

Adopt a Family

Make a family’s holiday wishes come true by shopping for their needs. The YWCA will anonymously match you with a family who would not otherwise have gifts at this time of year. You will receive a list of gift items requested by the family as well as genders and ages.

Adopt a Senior

Bring the holiday spirit to a homebound senior. The YWCA will anonymously match you with a senior in need who otherwise would not receive any gifts this year. You will receive a list of much-needed items requested by the senior.

Host a Giving Tree

Get your office, faith community or family involved by hosting a Giving Tree filled with wishes from the families served at YWCA. We provide the tags – you collect the gifts and we will pick them up!

Adopt a House

Get your office, faith community, school or family involved by adopting one of our Y Share houses. The YWCA will match you with a house that otherwise would not receive gifts this year. We will provide you with a list of house members and their most needed items. Each house has 10-20 members.

Suggested Donation Items

If you would prefer not to take part in one of the above programs but would like to donate, pick from the list of suggested items below, collect items of your choice or purchase directly from our Amazon wish lists. Feel free to donate as many items as you’d like!

For your convenience, you can purchase items that our clients have chosen directly from our Amazon wish lists! The items will be delivered directly to our office, making the process hassle-free for you!
